Green and Gold Lacrosse and the Bethlehem Warriors are proud and excited to announce the launch of the Jr. Lions Lacrosse Club, a co-ed lacrosse program, for children in the North Hunterdon High School sending district from grades K-8.

This new organization is open to boys and girls who reside in the district, regardless of their experience. The combination of Junior Lions and Green and Gold is based on a highly successful model in which elite teams play together throughout the year, during the “on” and “off” seasons. Two recent state championship teams credit their success to having had unified youth programs, which fostered a stronger sense of community, commitment and cohesiveness amongst its players.

Junior Lions/Green and Gold Lacrosse offer year round opportunities to develop individual and team skills. Lacrosse will be offered all four seasons, by way of clinics, town recreational teams, select travel teams and off-season developmental practice teams. Junior Lions will focus on Spring and Fall recreational seasons and Green and Gold will remain the Select Winter and Summer opportunity for elite players in grades 5-12. They will encourage and foster the growth of healthy relationships with teammates, their families and the North Hunterdon High School lacrosse program. The combination of Junior Lions and Green and Gold Lacrosse uniquely allows for players, families and coaches to grow and support one another from kindergarten through High School.

The initial Junior Lions coaching staff consists of members of North Hunterdon High School, Green and Gold Lacrosse and Bethlehem Warriors. Anyone interested in joining the Junior Lions coaching staff is welcome to contact Rich Prakopcyk, Boys Commissioner or Andrew Conforti, NHHS Boys Lacrosse Head Coach.

Regardless of age or experience, the Junior Lions’ goal is to create a fun and positive experience for those involved while emphasizing the fundamentals of the game above all else. Our goal is to teach players how to compete and strive to win, while upholding our mission to develop players first and foremost.

We will field competitive teams at the 3/4 th grade combined, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade levels. Players of all abilities and experience as welcome to participate.

Through our First Shot program we’ll offer clinic based instruction for players ages 4 through 8 (or 2nd grade). Our First Shot program will be run by Brian Whiteley, former North Hunterdon HS and Fairleigh Dickinson University goalie. Brian has developed an outstanding program which makes the game fun and exciting for our new young players!

Our coaches are Rutgers certified and are encouraged to pursue US Lacrosse Level 1 training as well. We will use facilities in Bethlehem and at North Hunterdon High School for all practices and home games. Taking direction from NHHS Head Coach Andrew Conforti and our Boys Commissioner Rich Prakopcyk (both former High School All-Americans and All-Americans at Rutgers University), our coaches will work closely with the North Hunterdon coaching staff to develop and implement the curriculum at all levels consistent with the process and philosophy employed at North Hunterdon High School. We will emphasize fundamentals at all levels as we prepare our players to play at the highest level at North Hunterdon High School. Most importantly, we will endeavor to foster the individual skills, commitment to teamwork and a love for the “fastest game on two feet” necessary to compete successfully at all levels of the game!
